About Jason

I am Dr. Jason Amsden. I received my bachelors degree and Ph. D. in physics from the University of Maine and Boston University, respectively. In addition, I have several years of postdoctoral research experience at Tufts University and as a United States National Science Foundation sponsored International Research Fellow at Seoul National University. I have a diverse background in various basic and applied research topics including researching photoactive proteins, developing spectroscopic apparatus, pioneering technological applications of silk fibroin, and evaluating hybrid organic photovoltaics. When I was in 6th grade, I realized that I wanted a career devoted to developing renewable energy after reading an article on ozone depletion in the "1989 World Book Encyclopedia Science Yearbook." Lately, after reading a very inspiring book called Abundance by Peter H. Diamandis and Steven Kotler, I've realized that I can make a difference researching just about any kind of advanced technology. In addition to science and technology, I enjoy CrossFit, taekwondo, photography (to which most of this blog is devoted), and cooking. Please connect with me on LinkedIn, follow me on Twitter and/or contact me via email. In addition, a few select photos you see on this blog can be purchased through my store on 500px.com
